ISDN
Principle of operation
ISDN works by splitting a common telephone line into several channels. To avoid loss of data transmission speed, separate interfaces are formed: basic and main. The basic includes 2 channels for voice and other data, as well as for the allocation of the Internet line. At the expense of the second creates a protocol for connecting to broadband lines.
Connection and configuration
ISDN-connection is connected via serial port and telephone line of the provider. Connection and further configuration is carried out as follows:
- install drivers for the modem;
- the router is configured according to the correct numbers provided;
- for predefined phone lines the connection is configured;
- the modem is programmed to make a call to the Internet provider.
ISDN today is considered an obsolete technology. At the same time developers do not leave attempts to improve it, as ISDN has a number of advantages: ISDN today is considered an obsolete technology.
- the ability to receive on one line two calls at once;
- more rapid and reliable transmission of information than in analog;
- the possibility of connecting additional devices on one line;
- minimal amount of interference;
- the ability to exchange multiformat data;
- the ability to exchange multiformat data;
But despite this number of pluses, one of the main disadvantages are considered a fairly large investment. They will definitely be required if there is a question of increasing the speed of the signal and improving its quality.
